How to Detox the Right Way

Most people get detox wrong.

They focus on cleaning out their colon (i.e. pooping more).

But detoxing is SO much more than that.

Detoxing is a two-part process

If you want to detox the right way, you have to do these two things.

  1. Remove toxin exposure, also referred to as the “body burden.”
  2. Support all of the organs of detoxification (all 7 of them).

Popular detox programs focus only on #1—removing exposure (e.g., processed foods, entire food groups). However, sometimes this harms #2—nourishing and supporting the body.

For example, the “Master Cleanse” (aka Lemonade Diet) eliminates all food and beverage except for a spicy, lemony cocktail. This cleans out the GI tract. But does nothing to support the liver, the main organ of detoxification and biotransformation.

Without getting into too much scientific jargon, biotransformation is when the body takes fat-soluble toxins and turns them into water-soluble packages. Toxins need to be disguised in watery packages so they can be detoxified—removed from the body via sweat, stool, or urine.

Toxins are dangerous

Why do we need to remove fat-soluble toxins quickly? Because your body stores them in your fat tissue (think of gremlins in your cellulite). Which prevents weight loss. And destroys your metabolism. Even worse, it makes future weight loss bad for you.
